Do you need to enhance your machine’s performance or expand an existing design? Coupling ironless linear motors offers a simple and effective solution to boost the force. The possibilities go beyond using identical motors; various combinations are possible, as long as the motor force constant is consistent. It is relatively straightforward and gives impressive results. An advantage, and maybe surprising, is that you are not just limited to using identical motors.
Configuration options
Individual ironless coil units can be coupled. This can be done by using two magnet yoke rows for gantry-type applications or in-line with several coil units to yield more force.
Motors can be mechanically aligned in series or parallel. This allows motors to move on different tracks, distributing even force to a large gantry, or on the same yoke track, enhancing power along a single line. In both cases, the total force of all motors adds up. For more information on coupling orientations, please refer to the technical note below.

Cost effective and flexible
Standardizing coil assemblies across multiple machines and applications reduces expenses and simplifies field support. By coupling two coils, a smaller series coil and magnet yoke can be used. This will reduce the magnet yoke costs. As long as the force constant is the same you can make numerous combinations.
